Salem, OR – The Salem Fire Department announced that last week marked the first week of training for its new EMS professionals as they begin their journey within the department.

According to the department, the academy is designed to cover a wide range of skills and knowledge essential for the role. The training program teaches paramedics Salem-specific protocols and processes, helping them build a strong foundation for success in their careers.

During the first week, much of the focus remained on office-based instruction, with new recruits spending significant time in classroom and administrative settings as they were introduced to procedures and expectations.

Officials said they are looking forward to seeing the new EMS professionals transition from training to active duty, where they will begin serving the community in the field.
