BOZEMAN, Mont. — The Bozeman Police Department made history Tuesday, confirming a record number of new female officers at one time.

At Tuesday night’s meeting, the city commission confirmed the appointment of five new officers, three of them female.

Officers Hannah Helsby, Christy Klewin and Jessika Kynett met the requirements and successfully completed their probationary period on the force.

“Typically, law enforcement has kind of been predominantly males within our department, so it’s nice to be able to have more female officers in there you know sometimes you get a little different perspective on things from female officers,” said Sgt. Jason LaCross. “So it’s great that there are more females that are actually getting involved in law enforcement.”

LaCross added all five of the officers are doing wonderful and are a great addition to the force.
