Salem, OR – The Salem Fire Department is recognizing the newest graduates of the Basic Telecommunicator Academy at the Willamette Valley Communications Center.

The department welcomed five graduates who recently completed the academy’s training program and are preparing to serve the community and support first responders through emergency communications.

Among the graduates is Sam Barnhart, a Dallas-Monmouth native who attended Oregon State University and previously taught English in Japan.

Jessica Bomar, a resident of Mt. Angel, joins the team after working in telecommunications customer service. She is also a mother of three and enjoys reading and gaming.

Taylor Fields, who grew up in the Salem area, brings emergency medical services experience from Falck and Woodburn Ambulance. Fields was also honored with the Carol Fagan Award for Academic Excellence.

Andy Nguyen, a Salem native, joins the team with a passion for music, anime, and spending time with family. Shelby Wyler, whose professional background includes corrections and cosmetology, was also recognized among the graduates. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.

According to the Salem Fire Department, the graduates completed extensive training and are now ready to answer calls for service while supporting both the public and emergency responders throughout the region.

The department congratulated the graduates and welcomed them to the Willamette Valley Communications Center team.
