Salem, OR – The Salem Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire on May 24 involving a shared facility used by Shangri-La and the Oregon State Fire Marshal warehouse, where firefighters were able to quickly contain the blaze and prevent extensive damage.
According to fire officials, crews were dispatched at approximately 11:18 a.m. and arrived to find heavy black smoke coming from the roof of a large commercial building. Firefighters immediately began an aggressive response to locate the source of the fire and stop it from spreading throughout the facility.
Officials said crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire, significantly reducing damage to both the structure and the equipment stored inside the building.
The response helped protect millions of dollars worth of emergency equipment belonging to the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office, along with preventing additional structural losses.
The department noted that the rapid containment effort was especially important as wildfire season approaches, with many of the protected resources expected to play a critical role during upcoming emergency operations across Oregon.
Fire officials stated that the cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were immediately reported in connection with the incident.
The Salem Fire Department praised the coordinated response by firefighters, emphasizing the importance of fast action during commercial structure fires involving critical emergency response equipment.
