Salem, OR – The Salem Police Department reported that officers responded to 803 calls for service between March 20 and March 22, 2026, with Friday identified as the busiest day, accounting for 352 calls.

During the three-day period, officers cleared 30 criminal warrants and made six DUII arrests through both dispatched calls and proactive policing efforts. The department stated that officers remained focused on rapid response, thorough investigations, and maintaining public safety throughout the weekend.

Several notable incidents were highlighted in the department’s shift commander report.

On Friday, officers responded to a domestic disturbance near Barnes Avenue SE, where a man allegedly threatened a woman with a pocket knife during an argument before taking her car keys and fleeing. Officers later located the suspect using a drone and took him into custody without incident. He was lodged at the Marion County Jail on multiple charges.

That same day, officers responded to a separate domestic disturbance on Lexington Circle SE involving a man accused of pushing his mother and making threats. Crisis Negotiation Team personnel made contact with the suspect, who eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

Also on Friday, officers investigated a reported bomb threat at Adam Stephens Middle School on Hayesville Drive NE. Authorities determined the call, which used a computerized voice modulator, to be a swatting incident. Officers and school security conducted a precautionary search, with no disruptions reported. The investigation remains ongoing amid a rise in similar hoax threats locally and nationwide.

In another incident, officers located a man with a parole violation warrant near Commercial Street SE. After fleeing into Riverfront Park, the suspect was found hiding under a bridge and was taken into custody with assistance from a police canine.

Officers also responded to a stabbing in the 3200 block of Liberty Road S, where one man was found with stab wounds. He was transported to Salem Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. The suspect was arrested and lodged at Marion County Jail on multiple charges.

Additional incidents included a suspect arrested for breaking a parking meter on Center Street NE, a stolen vehicle pursuit on Saturday that resulted in a crash and arrest, and a robbery at a Fred Meyer store where an employee sustained minor injuries after being struck by a suspect vehicle.

On Saturday evening, officers responded to a report of juveniles involved in an altercation on High Street NE, where one suspect was armed with a knife. Two suspects were detained, with one lodged at a juvenile detention facility and charges for the second referred to authorities.

Sunday incidents included a domestic disturbance on Lancaster Drive NE that led to arrests for theft and outstanding warrants, as well as assistance provided to Marion County deputies in Aumsville, where a barricaded suspect surrendered after a police canine was deployed.

Officers also responded to a fight on Center Street NE involving a suspect armed with a baton. The individual, along with a passenger who had outstanding warrants, was taken into custody and lodged at Marion County Jail.

Officials emphasized that the department continues to prioritize community safety and proactive enforcement efforts across the city.
