Salem, OR – The Salem Fire Department reported that crews participated in joint training exercises alongside Marion County Fire District No.1 and Keizer Fire District on March 17.
The training, which was planned and organized by Keizer Fire, focused on vehicle extrication techniques.
Crews had the opportunity to work with a variety of tools from each department’s apparatus, allowing them to become more familiar with the capabilities and equipment used across agencies.
Officials said the joint exercises are important as Salem firefighters increasingly respond alongside neighboring departments through Automatic Aid dispatching.
Understanding how each agency operates and what equipment is available helps crews respond more efficiently during emergencies.
Fire officials emphasized that preparation and coordination are critical when responding to incidents where time is a key factor, noting that the training is aimed at improving service and safety for the community.
