In a significant development, authorities have arrested 27-year-old Michael Dean Davis Jr. in connection with the discovery of human remains on a property in Buffalo, Texas. The remains have been identified as those of Mahogany Washington, a 27-year-old woman who had gone missing in June 2022 together with her 8-year-old son.
The Leon County Sheriff’s Office reported that the remains were found on October 22, 2024, during an investigation into the long-standing missing persons case. Subsequently, on November 12, Davis was apprehended in Laredo, Texas, and charged with murder. During his arrest, authorities discovered several rifles, gas masks, and armor at his residence. Additionally, Davis faces charges of child endangerment due to the poor condition of the home.
The missing child was found unharmed at the time of Davis’ arrest and has been placed with Child Protective Services. The investigation remains ongoing, with Davis currently held on a $3 million bond.
