President-elect Donald Trump has secured a second term in the White House, and his party, the Republicans, has also won control of both the Senate and the House. However, there are still a few races that haven’t been decided yet.
Even though Republicans have won control of both chambers, there are three House races and one Senate race still too close to call. The big question now is how many seats Republicans will have in the House and Senate, which will determine how easily they can push through Trump’s plans.
Let’s take a look at the races still waiting for results:
The Only Senate Race Left
- Pennsylvania: Trump won Pennsylvania, but the Senate race there is still being counted. Democratic Senator Bob Casey is fighting for a third term against Republican Dave McCormick, a former hedge fund CEO who also ran for the Senate in 2022 but lost.
House Races Still Waiting for Results
- The House has been called for Republicans, but it’s still unclear by how much. These three races are still up in the air:
- California’s 13th District: Republican Rep. John Duarte is in a tight race with Democrat Adam Gray, a former state lawmaker, in this district in California’s Central Valley.
- California’s 45th District: Republican Rep. Michelle Steel is behind Democrat Derek Tran, an Army veteran, but it’s close. The ballots counted after election night seem to be going Tran’s way.
- Iowa’s 1st District: Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks is leading by just a few hundred votes against Democrat Christina Bohannan, a former state representative. Miller-Meeks is no stranger to tight races—she won her 2020 election by just six votes!
As votes continue to be counted, we’ll soon know the final outcomes of these races. Stay tuned for more updates!
